Idk. Twice Optifine wouldn't start for me, saying "A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment," for about a week. Eventually it stopped and worked again. Maybe something similar with you..?

This issue is actually most commonly caused by malware, a reinstall may help in the short term but the issue will just happen again

In nearly ever case that I've dealt with, it's been malware causing the issue. If they're running mods it could be due to that but the majority of people who have the issue solve it after running adwcleaner

Malwarebytes ADWCleaner is a utility to clean a PC which is infested with malware. Download it here: https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/adwcleaner
Run it, click Scan Now, once it completes the scan click Quarantine, restart the computer when it asks you to and come back here for further instructions.
