Modding... glitch?

Alright so im not good at finding diamonds, so i gave up and used mod loader, whichdidn't work, so instead i used the X-ray mod. I got a whole bunch of diamonds, mad armor and a sword, and than what happend next is beyond me..... it acted as iron armor. With The diamond sword , it took 4 hits to kill a zombie, 3 for a skeleton, and etc. Then i wanted to test this glitch with lava, it did at least 5 hearts of damage instantly. Is this a bug, or is this happening because of the xray mod? Im freaking out!

The amount of hits it takes to kill the zombies and skeletons with a diamond sword is normal. I tested damage from lava with full diamond armor, and the damage was only half a heart, sort-of quickly taking hearts away, but still able to stay alive for at least 5 seconds.
