Mods not working for 1.6.2

Mods always work for me till the 1.6.2 update I'm trying to install optifine and better sprinting mod. My brother managed on his laptop but it won't work on mine. No crash errors, when I get to the part of creating a new profile it doesn't show the 1.6.2 mods (that's what I named it). Just 1.6 and 1.6.2 appear in the versions part. Its a windows 7 laptop 64 bit I'm not sure what java version Ii think its the most recent one if someone can tell me how to check ill post here.
