I had been playing Minecraft for a long time on bedrock but on java can you do multiplayer without a server or realms cause its really annoying when I have to make a new server just to play a map with someone. I knows there's LAN but it doesn't work

If you're on java use Minehut or Aternos. Both are completely free.

You said LAN isn't working for you. In order to play LAN you and the other person must in in the same area, so like, same house. I'm pretty sure you must be on the same network (WIFI, internet).
If doing that still isn't working, it may be your router settings. Some networks, like my Guest network, do not allow devices to communicate to each other directly.
If you are still having problems with LAN, then maybe consider running your own Minecraft server on a device in your house that has a decent amount of RAM and Cores. If you run it on one of YOUR devices, then the server should be able to run decently. It just depends on the specs of the device your running it on.

yeah ive tried 2 different free server hosting websites witch are ok but if i want to play a multiplayer map say that i downloaded from planet Minecraft I have to download lots of server files and upload them but it doesn't seem to work, thanks any way.
If your friend cant see your LAN world even though you've "published" it from yours, they'll need to force connect to your world.
They can do this by grabbing your local ipv4 ip address and typing it in in direct connect.
Assuming you're using Windows,
You can get your local ipv4 by doing ipconfig in CMD and getting your friend to copy your ipv4 address down.
Dont worry, it's safe because it's only used within your own network, so your friend has to be a hacker and hack while inside your house for you to be in danger.
Example local ipv4 address (Note all these ar safe and only specific to your local network)
So in my example, I would put the ip address 192.168.0.83 (all the numbers except the last depend on your internet provider) in direct connect.
This has worked for me before and I hope it works for you

As far as I know, the only other way with java will be LAN, I'm afraid. I know I've gotten it working with my little brother before so it should be possible. You may have to just trouble shoot it until it works right. I'm not very good at networking stuff myself but I'm sure you can find some folks online who could help you figure out why it's not working for you.
