Need default texture pack. Please help.

This is stupid. no mater how hard i try, i cannot extract the default texture pack. i need it to make a texture pack, BUT I CANT EXTRACT IT. Plz, dont give me advice to extract it. its just i cant get the software to work. i would really appreciate it if anyone could give me a link to the default, or to give me a copy. i cant use another pack, as i only need to edit a few textures (and not the terrain!). so plz, if you can, plz help. i would appreciate it.
