Need help adding Shelf Mod to Private Server

Hey folks! I've got my own Private Server set up at home, with about 6-8 people who actively play. The server runs great, we've got a client side Minimap mod that gives us a functioning compass, and some cool skins and texture packs. The next thing I'm trying to add to the Server is the Shelf Mod I found, here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/754 ... g-updated/

I was able to get it to work in Single Player, but when I try to create a shelf in MP, the game crashes. Now, I'm assuming this is because the server doesn't possess the files to display the shelf because it's not installed on the server.

Does anyone know how I might add this to my server files so that I can use this mod in Multiplayer? I'm using the .jar file being run by a Batch file to allocate 1GB of RAM to the Server. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Shelf mod is not a multiplayer mod. It's kind of useless anyway, and I'm not sure why you'd feel the need to go through the trouble of installing it to use it.

It was more for the aesthetic appeal that is has. I wanted to be able to display certain things in the house I built. The Armor Stand would've been a nice mod as well for the same reason.

ZaphodXBukkit is better in many ways, and it allows you to have 'mods' for the server.

Well thanks again then my friend! I'll be trying to get my server switched over to this platform then, because I wanna start playing with some MP Mods!

Bukkit is better in many ways, and it allows you to have 'mods' for the server.

Try checking out the other guides on plugins and anti grief for some ideas on how useful and fun they can be.

Just google it. Mods don't work on a server unless it has explicitly been made compatible with multiplayer modloader.

If you want to make a Bukkit server check the link below. Just put the world folder in the new server you make, you will still keep everything you have.

Many thanks! I will give this a shot. Are there any advantages to having it be a Bukkit server vs. the way I currently have it set up? Or is is mainly for Mod support?

You will need the multiplayer modloader.

You could also try the Bukkit plugin showcase if it isn't MP compatible

The Bukkit thing I haven't been able to figure out, but there is enough documentation on the interwebs for me to probably get it working. Do you know if I can keep my current world, or if I'll have to generate a new world? We have a lot of time invested, and I don't wanna lose it!

As far as for the MP Modloader, do you have a location where I might be able to snag that?
