Need help changing the color of Birch tree leaves.

I know it's hardcoded in the game and it's difficult to do but there was a method I found a while back where you just edit the json file for birch leaves but I can't seem to find it anymore. I guess it disappeared.
Either way, does anyone know this method? If not, any other simple methods of changing the color?
If there's way to alter the grass for birch wood forests only that would be nice too. I'm basically trying to the birch tree forests autumn like forests.
I'm kind of new to altering this stuff so sorry if I seem very inexperienced in this.
I do have optifine and this is for a 1.13 texture pack.

You will have to merge birch_leaves.json model with leaves.json and delete tintindex arguments.
