search permissions plugin minecraft on google
first: get a permissions plugin jar file
second: install it on your server
third: get notepad++ (its free)
fourth: search: configure (plugin-name) minecraft.
or look for the configuration walkthrough on the dev's post
fifth: right click the permissions.yml file and select edit with notepad++ and follow the configuration walkthrough
I know this works for Windows btw, not sure about macs.

WHICH plugins
Are you using a mac or a pc?
If you're using a mac, while in Minecraft, press Command+Option+Control+Eject and you'll get a popup with options for permissions. As for pc, im not so sure. Btw, for the mac, it won't work unless you get out of all other applications except for your browser/minecraft.
