The light mod we use is a mod that allows you to place invisible blocks that light up any area. The rod the guy is holding allows you to see the light sources, or make them invisible. When we do this we've noticed a glitch that makes a sunray that goes away when you move your screen around. We're using sildurs shaders and invisiblights.

With this, we've also noticed some weird lighting effects.

The blocks next to the roof have sharp lighting on them, where you can definitely tell where the light source is, and doesn't have very smooth lighting.

Compared to this, where the lighting is smooth and fades out.

Agree with HoboMaggot that this is likely caused by the mod's engagement with Minecraft's native lighting engine and would suggest hitting up the mod developer. Frustrating bug--largely defeats the purpose of a mod like this! Sorry about that. However, just want to point out that your photo examples are great and I appreciate you putting in the effort to provide illustrative examples rather than just describe the phenomenon with words as so many do.

This would more be a problem with either minecraft's lighting engine and its interactions with the mod, or the other way around.
I suggest you take this up with the mod creator as theyll most likely know whats going on
