I would like to make a mini game like Kirbys Checker board chase. I don't know where to begin what would you guys recommend. Also does this already exist in minecraft and I don't know about it and if anyone else is interested in doing this let me know. Thanks in advance.

Start of by reading lots of stuff about redstone. Then, started planning about your minigame. Include the objective of the mingame, rules, how to play and other information. Start on a superflat world and start testing out your redstone contraptions. Once you are confident, build your minigame. Also, take your time!
