Need help with Hexxit

Hey guys, so I recently installed hexxit, I love it and everything runs great.
But I do have one problem..
I have my friend over and we are trying to start up an LAN world, though it is not showing up on the local area connections. We have done this before with other mods so it's not something to do with the internet connection. We have also tried using the ip that it gives when starting up with world,, though it still doesn't show up. Can someone please tell me how to set up a LAN world for hexxit?

i think the default is your 25565 port so try that if not you might have to go into regedit if you have a windows computer that or check your internet providers portforwarding port
