So i have a XFX R7 260X HD GPU. On games i am able to play on high to Ultra no problem but on minecraft i barely get 30 FPS on tiny with optifine on lowest settings. Do i need to do something with Java to get higher FPS.

Looks like Killertoad and Xyifer12 got this all figured out. I have followed all this advice in the background and my FPS raised significantly! Thank you Killertoad!
Glad I could help I am wondering, what did help? :p
No on my old PC I had Vista. I like it.
kinda off topic but i felt this was needed

Lol, I don't wanna start a flame war.... And its not that we don't like it, it's that it may not work with that one video card and java together. So try another OS (Ubuntu, can install it on a 2-4gb flashdrive) and see if it works fine, and if it does, then, well, upgrade to 7 or 8.1, or stay with ubuntu, or Linux lol
You should try running everything off a USB drive with ubuntu, that way you can tell if the problem is vista.

On Mac FPS the lower the better.
Actually, on Mac, the lower FPS the worst. Just like every other computer.
Lower fps is never good? On anything... I don't think you know what you're talking about..
Shadow_AnndroidKillertoad don't think it likes vista, as the newest driver fixed any performance issues (which you were having on one game, not all).
I call BS. Vista served me very well for my needs until I started hosting websites and whatnot. Never had a single issue with it except one time where a CD got stuck in the drive and it stopped dead in its tracks. Flamewar over.
It's not a flamewar, and I'm not saying vista is bad (which it was lol) but I'm saying it MAY have compatibly issues.
Killertoad geez my mac has a different way to categorize a fps. In pc standards I can run 260 FPS
huh?

That is my current driver. the problem has to be within minecraft because i can play other games on high to ultra video settings. got any advice
Yeah, I'm looking at benchmarks, and people are recording, on max settings, with that video card at like, 50-120 fps, and without recording 75-165 fps. They only thing that comes to mind, is the vista part, I don't think it likes vista, as the newest driver fixed any performance issues (which you were having on one game, not all). Maybe there are new drivers for your cpu/mobo? Check up on that if you can.

How much ram are you allowing Minecraft to take?
Ram doesn't matter, in his case.mcd573Sorry thats just how it is. My computer has the same issues. It can handle 13 fps but on minecraft it gets 23 fps. Sorry bud. That's just how it is.
Dude, no, the 260x should be running at over 160 fps, so I think it's just your computer, you need to stop giving false advise.lechttrSo i have a XFX R7 260X HD GPU. What windows version? And have you updated all the video card drivers? Maybe update java? List your other specs, please.
