I've tried to setup my own server but everytime I try to host the server on my IP it says 'can't bind port'. I've tried everything I could find. I tried removing my IP but then my friends couldn't join. I tried putting my IPv4 IP but that didn't work aswell. I tried making a static IP but that made me loose my internet connection. I've tried using programs to open my port and I've closed all java programs in task manager. No other program is using port 25565 and switching to another port doesn't make it work either. It keeps saying 'Failed to bind port'. My router is a UPC DOCSIS 3.0 (Dutch brand) and I run Windows 8.1. Please help, I would really appriciate it.

You can't bind to your public ip unless your directly connected to the modem and your ip for your PC would then be a public one.
Have you port-forwarded in your router settings?

Try restarting ur pc, like i know it seems funny but if you tried to open the application a few times it glitched out for me just try and restart it

hmm check your processes u might find something unexpected? Otherwise im not sure :/ i hope u solve it
