Odd Glitch with 1.8 Skin
So I made thisskin using MCSkin3d as a 1.8 skin. When I uploaded it to PMC, everything looked fine in the preview. When I tried to use the skin however, thisis what I was faced with. It seems that when I try to play it takes off the body armor. Is this normal?

That's because you're not using Minecraft v. 1.8's 14w03a snapshot. You can change to that snapshot in the game's main menu.
that explains why the armband on my skin isn't working!
They make 1.8 skins to get ready for 1.8, and it also make skins look nice when you do them right (take this for a skinner)
What's the difference between 1.8 skins and oldest version's anyways?
Arms and legs might have different textures (like the right arm is different from the left arm) and you have a hat layer for the body (like the hat layer for the head, but in the body and limbs).
You have an armor layer on the skin so it can look like the person is wearing an extra layer on the body, legs and arms. Also in 1.8 skins you can make it so the arms and legs design are not symmetrical .
I am assuming you mean 1.8 and older versions. The difference is that arms and legs can now be made different, to as before they mirrored each other. The 1/.8 skins also have layers.
ya i think texture are just messed up the thrown potion does not have a texture
i dunno why people use 1.8 skins..they are not supported yet..
Maybe for YouTube videos OR just to look nice in the snapshots OR to get in the popreel in PMC.

That is correct, the armor layer has not yet been added to Minecraft. It will be added once 1.8 is released
What version of MC are you using?
I'm partially sure that 1.8 skins don't work 1.7 versions... if you are using it
