Open Port Issues - PLEASE HELP

I have set up a generic mc server (one of the ones you download from the Mojang site) and everything is good to go. I went on YouTube and found a video on how to port forward with my specific router. I followed ALL of the instructions to the letter, yet when I go to Open Port, it still tells me that my port is closed. No one is able to connect to the server except me. Any ideas why my port is not open??
