I'm having some trouble getting optifine for 1.9. When I try opening it for the installer, a window opens for a moment, and when it closes, it adds some text to it:
also, when I try using it in magiclauncher, when I test it, at the title screen in the bottom left corner where the version is stated, it says this: Minecraft 1.9/${version_type}
also, optifine isn't loaded. of course. btw, version of optifine that I'm using is OptiFine_1.9.0_HD_U_B1.jar
plz help. considering that I get an average of 5 fps in an ocean biome due to squids, or maybe the biome itself, I'm helpless without optifine.

Open up Command Prompt and enter:
What is the output?

Yeah I had the same problem and made a thread but didn't really get a working answer D: .
it might be the fact that I have java installed. just might be. I can't think of any other explanation that makes any sense, since I'd installed optifine before magiclauncher. thanks guys.
As some people already said, try using the vanilla launcher or MultiMc. Both has more frequent updates and runs better than Magic Launcher (IMO)
Also you can simply just open double click the optifine jar to use it's auto installer, no patches etc needed

magic launcher is kinda old, try using multiMC, it may be a bit hard at first but it deals with all the mod/forge and minecraft installs
on a second note, just install forge then put optifine into the mods folder and u wont need to worrie about using the installer
Try redownloading it, it looks like some packets were lost while downloading the jar. If that still doesn't work I will upload it on dropbox for you.

Did you already run 1.9 without optifine?
I don't think it's a minecraft problem. the same thing happens with other .jar files.
