Optifine problem
I downloaded optifine and thought that it would reduce lagg instead it halved my FPS. What should i do?

EDIT: Some of these mods might not work on the newest version of Minecraft (checked after I made this post)
If Optifine doesn't work for you, you could install Fabric, Phosphor, Lithium, and Sodium. They don't have all the fancy bells and whistles that Optifine has (like shaders and extra video settings) but your performance should see a drastic bump.

Post an in-game screenshot with your F3 debug screen enabled so that we can see your specs and settings.
I'm not sure about that, then i'll show a lot about my computer
Specs like what CPU and GPU you have aren't "personal." Knowing that information will help us to figure out if a low FPS is something you should expect or not. It doesn't show any passwords or anything.
maybe your quality settings are too hig? if they are try lowering them
shaderpacks can also produce a lot of lag so if youre using one try finding a less laggy one or just turn shaders off
