Update your graphics card drivers and install the newest version of the Java Runtime Environment. If that doesn't work then your PC is too old to run the newer versions of Minecraft. Your options at that point are to use/get a different computer or use an older version of Minecraft.

Try updating your video driver, if you were able to play before on that computer. This was/is an issue with some older integrated GPU's from Intel, the solution was to use an older version of the JVM. Is the only thing that changed Minecraft? Or did you do an OS update or anything else?
Your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Minecraft. Time for an upgrade!
