I am so sad! I spent a ton of money on this server and I can't get any players on it! The reason is, I'm stuck at the bottom of the list! How in the world am I supposed to get players online who will vote so I can slowly go up the list? I only have a handful of dedicated players and they cannot vote fast enough to get me up to the first or second page of servers. It looks hopeless to me! Anyone know any secrets?

psst.... Get your server on all the minecraft server websites. Especially PMC, and get votifier so people who vote get rewards.

If you wanted a good server, You are gonna have to learn how to make a good world and a good advertisement. If you have a great advertisement it will attracted attention to your server. Advertisement is key! Once you have a good advertisement it is sure someone will join your server and it will repeat and repeat.
Post it on alot of websites but have 1 main website. People come on from those other websites. Get a plugin that sends a announcement every once and a while telling them to vote or like the server. As you get more players, you will get more votes, and when you are pretty high up, players will quit and new ones will come on. Its what I did with my server...
