Protecting area around my spawn

How do i protect the area around my spawn from building? i have my spawn worldguarded but i want to so no one out of my spawn can build
please help me

In your essentials config there should be an option to deny any building, you can also do it with your permissions plugin, for example if your using groupmanager just set build to :false. if your using another permissions plugin just look up how to deny build globally on google, hope it helps
iirc Essentials Spawn should have this feature enabled by default when you install it. If all else fails you can try that installing Essentials and that will protect I think around 16 blocks at spawn.

/region flag __global__ build deny

i believe you have the incorrect command. i think it's /region flag <name of region> passthrough deny
I am certain it is the build/construct flag.
Passthrough only allows access to build in regions already defined.
