Question about SSD
I am planning to "upgrade" to an SSD, since I currently use a hard drive, but I've seen some conflicting information and now I'm confused if I will see a FPS improvement or not.
Currently I am using an OptiPlex 755 (2007), and I know it isn't a great system.
Specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz 3.17 GHz
Integrated display adapter: Intel Q35 Express Chipset Family (WDDM 1.0)
Installed RAM 4.00 GB (3.86 GB usable)
System type 64-bitEdition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H2 (Cant Update)
(Everything except the ram, I think, is the default specs)

Your improvements ingame in minecraft will not be very noticable, minecraft does not really use the disk much for running the game, an ssd might help loading/saving the game, but iut wont effect the overall perfromance in the game.
as someone who used to also game on an optiplex machine back in the day (optiplex 745)
if you want to improve your minecraft experience on the optiplex systems, upgrade your CPU and add a discrete graphics card to your system, optiplex systems first major improvement is adding a graphics card,the core 2 duo underperforms a lot if it has to rely on the integrated graphics system, my optiplex went from running minecraft at 12fps(optifine lowest settings), to running minecraft at 30fps, (i even managed to get it to run old skyrim with mods) when i installed a cheap old graphics card. Taking the load off the CPU helped a lot, and i continued to game on the system until i had saved up enough to build my first pc.
Remember if you are upgrading your system from a HDD to an SSD backup your data, transfering a operating system can be a pain
if you are installing it as secondary storage, gaming off an SSD can be great for a lot of games, just in this case, not minecraft, if you want to improve your minecraft experience, you need to upgrade your CPU and install a GPU
due to the age of the system upgrading the cpu can get pricey due to reliance on the 3rd party selling market, the motherboard can only support core2 duo processors, 3rd party selling will get you an upgrade anywhere from $50-$300 depending where you buy from.
upgrading the gpu would also reply on 3rd party selling, despite the graphicas card market crashing, you will not be installing any current generation gpus to your system, you would be looking for single slot gpus
recommendations would be something like the GT 1050
better recommendations would to be invest in a low spec gaming pc, have a look at buying in the used market, check places like facebook marketplace or craigslist, or even ebay

I would upgrade the whole PC at some point. You might not see an FPS increase by upgrading to an SSD, but load times will be dramatically faster. It's also possible your Core 2 Duo is bottlenecking things a bit with MC, but other games idk since they are more GPU bound (I'm still sitting for a couple more days on my XPS 8700, and any modern title beyond Among Us or MC will only run with 10 fps :P).

HDD discs are an old disc type, you can defrag to optimize, it's slower than ssd
SSD are fast, no need to defrag(you can destroy the disc by it), because the disc optimizes itself by itself

Forgot to mention this, but I plan to play Minecraft (and perhaps a few other games, like terraria and roblox) don't know if this makes a difference.
