Hello PlanetMinecraft!

I am currently running a server (Don't Worry this is not an ad for it), it has 2Gb of RAM and I run one main world (Normal, Nether, End) and A Small Minigames world, with maybe 50 plugins running at one time. My Big Question to the Community is Do I really need this much ram? I mean the world is only about 2500 blocks and most of the plugins are stuff like Essentials, WorldEdit, WorldGuard etc. and they aren't really doing much most of the time. The Reason I am asking this is that I recently stumbled upon a hosting company that claims that the ram you buy is used solely for running your server and that some companies store you data on the ram you buy. Again Do I really Need 2Gb Of Ram for 32 slots, 40-50 plugins and maybe 5000 blocks of explorable world?

Thanks For Reading and Maybe Replying!!

Your hosting it yourself? Probably a lag fest.

Nope with Get-Sourced and I have 47 plugins at the moment with a worldborder at 2500 blocks and I haven't maxed out my server's Ram, but I only get about 20 people on at the busiest times.

This should be in servers, not discussion.

You want more RAM based on those specifications. If you are home hosting you want MORE unless you know what you are doing (like me!).

When you say WorldGuard isn't doing anything (and other plugins similar to it), you are making a HUGE mistake. WorldGuard (in its code) checks every single time a player moves. When the player moves, and is in a region, it does the things it needs to do for that region . So, when you say WorldGuard isn't doing anything, it really is checking where each player while the player is moving.
By moving, I mean touching WASD or the mouse.

You definatly need MORE then 2 GB of RAM if you want that many plugins. On a server I co-own we have 8 GB of RAM with about 30-40 pluginas and still somethimes have problems due to the number of plugins and the world size.

In reality, you'll probably be wanting more...
(unless you're in love with lag)
