Realm Outdated??!! I am on 1.8.8!!!

Hello guys!
I have been trying to get onto my friends realm for the past days but whenever I click on Minecraft Realms, an error message pops up saying: Your client is outdated and not compatible with Realms, please consider updating it.
I don't understand why!! I am on 1.8.8 the latest version of Minecraft!!!

Mine says client outdated, but basically i have the same problem, Im on the latest version of minecraft (1.8.9) no mods or anything and it claims that my game is outdated...

I think Mojang made 1.8.9 so that people with Forge 1.8.8 couldn't join
but that's just my opinion

Try using 1.8.9.
