I recently had a ddos attack on me from about 5:30 till around 6:20 ( EST ) on march 21. Since i have worked a way out for it not even to effect me we only had a lag for about 10 seconds then we didnt have to even worry. How would i go about reporting someone for this? Is there even a way to report this attack?

Thanks for any help,

A DDoS to what? A minecraft server? Or your personal computer?

The problem with DDoS attacks is you can't figure out who the attacker is. Usually, a hacker, sets up a bot-net. These are other people's computers; and the owner of such computer, never knows they are part of the bot-net. This kind of code lies dormant in your filesystem, unless you wipe it out periodically.

When the attacker sends the signal to his bot-net, all of the computers repeatedly send out requests to the victim/host. You have very slim chance of finding out who did it. I'm sure you have a log of IP addresses, but in most forms of DoS attacks, they are useless. Best to have a good defense instead.

If it is a minecraft server that is dedicated, you can tell your host about it. Otherwise, you are the main security for your server.
