There's a minecraft server I moderate on, and just found out we have corrupt chunks, and we have to reset the map. Ibqas wondering using the virtual chest bukkit plugin( which we have) would we be able to save player inventories and stuff in chests? Wouldn't you just have to not delete the player folder in the world and the virtual cheat data?

That would take awhile but that's a good idea!
I have no idea how to answer that, but my favorite server is resetting a map, too. This is what they're doing: First, they are going to save the map players built on. Next, they'll make it an MCEdit schematic. They'll release it so that players can select the things they wanna put in the new map.
I know from having a server before inside the world data there is a folder of the play inventories. And if you have bukkit inside the root of the server there's a folder called plugins.
