I am trying to test out my resource pack. It appears in the available resourcepacks, but when I try to equip it, it goes over to the equipped resource packs, but the Default Pack stays there too and no textures change. Thanks for the help.

Make sure the file location of "/assets/minecraft/textures/blocks" within all of your resource packs is in the first directory of the zipped file, otherwise the game will not load those textures as it cannot find them in the resource pack.
For example:
Suppose the texture pack is called"texturepack.zip", the location of the blocks file must be in "\.minecraft\resourcepacks\texturepack.zip\assets\minecraft\textures\blocks". Make sure you didn't improperly zip the files so that it looks more like "\.minecraft\resourcepacks\texturepack.zip\texturepack\assets\minecraft\textures\blocks"

The default one is always there. It is like the baseplate for thetextures. You know that if there is one texture in your RP that isn't edited, it will look like default. Well bc of what I said above.
But it's weird that yours doesn't overwrite it... Could you send a picture?

I've tried moving the folders and editing the files...like taking it out of the resource folder and adding files...
I cannot completely reinstalled it, like download it again though, because I am testing that the textures work before I release it to the Internet.

Still won't work... It is on the selected side, but the Default Pack is on the selected also. And it won't let me choose which one I want.
You have to put it in the "Selected" section and I assume you just double click on it, I assume
