Today 2014-8-24 my self hosted server went down, nothing was changed on it nothing seemed wrong it was working fine in the past but now the IP just won't work I double checked everything nothing was working localhost however worked fine. The reason I posted this though is because at the exact same time my friend who also hosted a server had the same problem. Has something changed? or am I just being dumb? has this happened to anyone else hosting a server?

benjimaestroYou need to statify it.
To go into further detail, you need to assign yourself a static IP on your router. This can be done on most routers by either setting up a static IP outside of the DHCP pool, or simply switching the router over to a static-IP mode.

in server properties make your server IP blank for force the server to always load to localhost.
Then just port forward to your local IP.
Then just port forward to your local IP.
that doesn't work because it still goes from xx.100 to xx.101 or xx.102

Run>Cmd>ipconfig you can check you current IP there
I'm at the most recent IP I wasn't sure whether or not I needed to mention that in the original post
your IP changed it does that everyday for me it goes like xx.xx.xx.1, xx.xx.xx.2
