Ok, hey guys (or girls)...
I'm a Minecraft server owner, I run a multi gamemode server which is ranked at about 75th on the Planet Minecraft top charts for the Uk.
I've personalised virtually every single thing on the server, making it a unique experience. I've taken advice from the players on what plugins to use, and even who to elect as staff.
Our largest player count has been 18 players at once. Since then the most we've had on at once in the past month was 12, and such a thing is hard to maintain.
Recently the server player count dropped to about 4-6 a day in the evening (previously we'd be getting about 10-14). Bumping the server isn't bringing in as many players any more either, not many players seem to vote. (The older players do but there aren't enough of them.)
I'm just not sure what to do to get the player count back up... Does anybody have any ideas?

Maybe consider making a new attraction in-server.
You know, trying something different to really grab players' attention.

Probably your best bet.
For me, personally, involving the community, talking to them, making friends, having a laugh, keeps your players and in some cases donate to you. I love my community, and being active with them is what keeps my Server alive.

What would you advise? I've got many cool features on the server but nobody uses them as there is nobody TO use them..

I do make friends with the English speaking players and do all I can with the others. Maybe activity would help, I usually go on the server once a day for 1-3 hours, those are usually the times when people come on.

If you're on more, your player count will rise, I'm on for a good 8 hours a day, and player counts are much higher when I am online compared to not being online.
As much time-consuming as owning a server is, putting the hours into it (lots of them) will get you good results. over 6 months, I've spent 18 days online on my server. I love being part of it, and I love introducing new players.
Continue to make friends, and be online more, and you may see a change!
Add Minigames.
Parkour and Survival Games attract many.
Good Luck with your server.

I've been mainly using this technique, the only problem is that players start to leave very quickly if you go on holiday etc. For me at least.
Most servers experience a slight drop in players this time of year, after all, its exam season! so a lot of minecrafters are busy studying, I wouldn't worry about it, they'll be back on for summer vacation
I do hope so! Thanks

Ahh, makes sense.
I'm sure there's many things you could do to improve your server, add new events, drop parties, different plugins.
Add goals for your players, add something for them to work towards and they should stick around.

Our time based ranking system usually is good for that
Ironically not long after I made this post I got a large influx of players, our record now stands at 21 players online, and once again it's dropping
Bump
