So I'm interested in starting a server but I don't know a good server hosting company. So if you know of any please post them. Im looking for one that is cheap, can have around 40+ players on it, has an actual word IP not just random numbers and offers a decent amount of RAM

I say use WolfCraft Hosting. I use them and they are small and no lag they are cheap. Google search them or PM me and I will give you a link. Also you have to buy a lettered IP witch is cheap use godaddy or namecheap. Good luck and happy crafting

RAM really means nothing. You're basically saying "I have an old computer in my basement I'll sell you usage on for a month."
I can run a 120 player server with just 2GB RAM, and 99.9% of servers only get ~10 players at a time. All you really need is internet speed.

There is no better host than FragNet. Top-of-the-line 24/7 support with people who know what they're doing.
Anything you need done is simple.. dedicated port upon request and outstanding connections.
'nuff said, don't really care what anyone else says about other hosts. I've been in the business for ~3 years and have yet to see anyone nearly compete with their support and versatility.

I personally like BeastNode. They offer the best in customer support, and their severs are fairly cheap, and also really good.
I use PytoHost on my server, me and my players get no lag whatsoever. They host on Solid State Drive and their hosting cost's $6 per GB of RAM.

I would recommend Shockline Hosting (shocklinehosting.com)
They give you 1GB of ram (20 players) for $10 a month. It is a fairly small company so they provide QUICK support if you need anything. As for no numbers I think that is an extra $2 a month
