Okay, My friends and i have been attempting to set up servers for.... a while... the best thats happened is i had a server, but only i could connect
Heres what i need : I need a small server, max 10 players and mini : 4 players, preferably get the mini of 4 to be max, to cut lag?
Also, can someone explain bukkit and tekkit? what is this ( ive had minecraft for a while but never got into the online scene)
Whats the EASIEST, NOOB FRIENDLY SETUP..
Just, tell me how to setup a simple server and ill get back to you.. .. and then could someone help if nobody can connect?

Bukkit:
Tekkit is a collection of mods which can be found here
http://wiki.technicpack.net/Tekkit
The easiest to setup is bukkit. A tutorial can be found here
http://wiki.bukkit.org/Setting_up_a_server
If you plan on others connecting, and you are hosting from home, you will need to setup portforwading to allow others to connect. Find your router model here and follow that tutorial

bukkitBukkit is a free, open-source, software project that provides the means to extend the popular Minecraft multiplayer server.
Our organization's aim is to provide the Minecraft community with a powerful, well-designed and thoughtful solution to extending and controlling their servers - making managing and creating servers easier and providing more flexibility. Learning from the mistakes made by other mods, Bukkit aims to be different and fill the void left by them: built from the ground up, we've focused on performance, ease-of-use, extreme customization and open communication between the Team and you, our users. The overall design of Bukkit has been inspired by other mods and our experience as Minecraft players just like yourselves, giving us a unique perspective and advantage going into the creation of the Bukkit Project
