Hello, I have downloaded the server jar from minecraft.net. but I have opened it and it does not let me know what the IP for the server is. I need to know how to run the server and what the IP is so I can have my own server. Can you please comment on letting me know how to know what my server IP is and how to run it. Thanks

Also if you are planing for this server to be public and want it to be big I would use a server host. There are several reasons to use a server host instead of a home host. one reason is if you get a ddos attack on your server and its hosted at your house, guess what? your internet is going down. Also hosts are 24/7, simple set up, and you need to pay a lot of money for power if ran constantly at your house.
