Server trouble shooting

I recently made a whitelisted mc vanilla server.
It is working great but whenever I leave and my friend is still on he gets disconnected soon after. On the server run thing it says they where disconnected. It says
Lost connection: disconnected.genericreason

Plz help I would greatly appreciate it.
