Setting up plugins before I buy a server!

ViperCobra67I wanted to buy a monthly paid server, and I didnt want to waste 1 month's payment on setting up the permissions and stuff, if someone could post a guide on how to set up plugins before I actually purchase the server PLEASE DO!

Well you can run a server locally on your computer and use that to configure, test and build your server before copying it all to a hosting company to run. This is how I re-built my server, I took 2 months behind the scenes rebuilding and re configuring. When it was time I copied it all up to my server and viola.

Well I was willing to help. Its very hard to learn suddenly if you have no idea what your doing.

You've gota choose a permission plugin first. I recommend 'Groupmanager'. Then you gota learn how to fill in the groups.yml. Just go onto pastebin.com and search - Groups.yml or something, and you should get a groupmanager groups.yml example/template. Then use that and edit it.

Things to know:

- The format of the groups.yml. eg using spaces not tabs.
- The permission nodes for each plugin. Can be found on the plugin page.
- The color formats, eg &4 = red
- The ingame commands, eg /manuadd matt Admin
- Prefixes/Suffixes
- Inheritance
- Allowing all commands node = *
- How to set users to a specific group = users.yml

I probably havent mentioned everything, I can do all that, but you clearly wana do it yourself, so good luck. I recommend looking at videos on youtube, just search for 'minecraft groupmanager groups.yml' or something.
