/setworldspawn Not Working!!!!!!!!!!! Need Help!!!
Ok so i'm making a map and /setworldspawn wont spawn me on the exact block I chose when I die. Even in adventure mode, which, according to the minecraft wiki page on adventure mode, says that in adventure mode you spawn on the exact block where your spawnpoint is. Please help me if you can, this is really important in the map.

The world spawn is the spawnpoint for all new players. It chooses anywhere within about 2 chunks (32 blocks)
To set your spawnpoint you need to do /spawnpoint

don't trust him he -snip- up my server the other week.
Imad_bush, thanks for the reply, but /spawnpoint is only for the player who types the command so if someone else plays the map their spawnpoint wont be there, and Alexg27f2005, im sorry but i dont skype people i dont know (im still in school so my parents wouldnt approve).
Instead of that, you can use this tricky lil' thing;
/spawnpoint @a
This will make it so all, even offline, players have that spawnpoint.

what about players that have not yet connected?

I've done that and I've also done /setworldspawn ~ ~ ~ but thanks for trying to help (i dont know if this will work but when im done with my map ill try and change the gamemode to adventure via NBTExplorer and then ill turn off cheats as well because that might be causing the problem but im not sure)
To set world spawn you must press F3 then look at the word that says Block: because it shows what coordinates you are in
I know how to use F3 and thats how i get the coordinates and that is what i do.
It doesn't pick an exact spot, it puts the player in a range around that spot. If you wan't players to spawn in a particular spot, you can set up a spawn point elsewhere and set up a command block to teleport anyone in-range to where you want the real spawn to be.
Thanks, this is what i plan on doing.
i tried it and it worked when i died
Patchpen, thanks for that idea, i think that'll work well!!! Thanks alot!!!
You could get Essentials, do /setspawn and not go through all this trouble..?
He's clearly making an adventure map for others to use, not setting up a server.
Yes, it is.
_TechnoMiner_DelsinShane, isnt that for servers, like sum sort of plugin?
Yes, it is.
noob /spawnpoint sets ur own spawn PAY ATTENTION
I'm not trying to flame, but maybe YOU should pay attention. They're creating a map and want players to spawn in a certain place when they load the world up, and /spawnpoint only sets the spawn for the person that executes the command. So you can't really call them a noob for that. It actually sort of makes you the noob.
just use a hopper clock and do this:
scoreboard players reset @a[score_NewPlayer_min=1] NewPlayer
/scoreboard players set @a[team=] NewPlayer 1
/tp @a[score_NewPlayer=1] x y z (these are your spawn coords)
/spawnpoint @a[score_NewPlayer=1] x y z (these are your spawn coords)
/execute @a[score_NewPlayer=1] ~ ~ ~ tellraw @a {"text":"","extra":[{"text":"Welcome ","color":"gold"},{"selector":"@p[score_NewPlayer=1]","color":"blue"},{"text":" to the server !","color":"gold"}]}
/scoreboard teams join default @a[score_NewPlayer=1]

Arcaniax, well umm... I still need to learn about scoreboards, its one thing i havent looked into yet.

you can use mc edit to change the world spawn
bigfoot49211, thanks for clearing that up, and karrthus1, i tried with mcedit and it still spawned me somewhere around the place i had chosen.
Send me a pm, and i'll explain how scoreboards work
I saw this post yesterday, when a guy came up with the idea of making a huge platform and whenever somebody spawned in, they automaticly got tp'ed. Well, can't you just make them use a bed? That will make them spawn exactly where you set the world spawn to? Just use some sort of title or whatever in the start telling them to sleep in the bed?
Players spawn in a large square of 20x20 where the center is the set spawnpoint. I'd suggest making some kind of large platform with tripwires over the ground. Hook them up to some kind of rapid clock that teleports all players in the area to wherever they should start the map.

don't trust him he fucked up my server the other week.
thanks for telling me but please dont swear
Ok people, I'd just like to say thanks for all the help, i think i have my plan on what im gonna do now.
not having a precise worldspawn is clearly a widely disliked game behaviour, why can"t mojang at least make the worldspawnsize configurable if they think imprecise spawns are such a wonderful idea, because a lot of map makers and server staff clearly don"t
If you import the world to worldpainter you can set the exact spawn point, but you have to be careful not to edit the landscape or it could screw up some buildings

Sethbling has a way.
The problem with /spawnpoint @a is when they first enter the world. @a does not effect players not in the game.
