Shouldn't this grass be spreading?
Hello, I've started living in a base underground, and for a few farms, I want to have grass around the area.
To my luck, an enderman plopped a grass block right in the center of my base, and I'm now trying to transfer the grass manually to the place I need it (I don't have silk touch).
I've made sure the light levels are high enough, so-- what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Dirt does not have to be on same level as Grass, I know that because of skyblock!
Edit: It does take a while sometimes for grass to spread, other times not. Grass growth is really quite random.

OP? Any luck?
i looks like the light level is high enough and the diagonal block is certainly within range of growth, so i'd just give it more time
In order for a dirt block to accept grass from a nearby grass block, the following requirements must be met:
- The dirt block receiving grass must be within a 3×3×5 range of the source block where the source block is in the center of the second topmost layer of that range,
- The source block must have a light level of 9 or brighter directly above it,
- The dirt block must have a light level of at least 4 above it,
- Any block above the dirt block must not reduce light by 2 levels or more.
Ok heres how you do it just /gamemode 1 get some grass about 9 stacks of 64 place it down tada your done
Next time incubate w/ your hands. It works faster when I do that. Lelwut don't question me.
Your probably going to need to move the torch.
It took forever, but-- SUCCESS!

Do you think the grass will be able to move diagonally down? I thought it could..

It may need to be at the same level as the other dirt.
Side note: why bother giving 8 GB of memory to Minecraft? It hardly ever needs more than 1 GB.

I'll try this:

As far as GB'S go, I've mostly just given it because I don't run very many programs at a time, and I can. Plus, it could always use a bit more help when I'm running amplified... haha anyway, that's off topic.

It should grow. Try giving it some more time.
*EDIT* If not, maybe it's because of the lack of sunlight. Try digging the ceiling.

I believe that the dirt has to be at the same level as the grass but I'm most probably wrong.
not enough yolo
