Hello, forum members. I'm going to discuss about a new server me and a few of my friends are creating called 'Smithcraft'
Its going to cost us around £85 per month to run it for 60 players. So we came up with an idea that we should charge a small fee of £2 per month to cover these costs. BUT don't be put off yet, the server has a lot to offer for those who wan't to join us. We will keep a record of those who have and haven't done the monthly donation and will be removing them from the server until completed.

Although the server is still in development, the server will not be live until we can finish our main areas and provide the best possible social experience for our players. For example, we have 4 towns, with unique designs and residences for those who don't wish to be grieved. There are 3 current mob arenas and a 4th one in development. newly joined players will receive $1000, a stack of wooden logs and a stack of cookies to start yourself off. You can purchase residences in each of our towns and you can purchase and repair armor and equipment, You are able to spawn guards and townspeople if you choose to create a residence of your own. To avoid being grieved, you can request from an OP or an Admin, to make your blocks unbreakable without your permission.

Those who donate more than the requested amount will receive a VIP status and will have access to a few commands and have the ability to change your nickname.

Completed projects-
Phoenix Town
King's Castle
Creeper's House
Spawn Area
Megafarm
Leader Statues
Noob Heaven(If you find it it holds beneficial items)
3 Mob Arenas
Pathways
Server Police Station

Currently in development-
The Flavian Amphitheater (1:1 colosseum)
Kenshiro Fortress
Crazy Golf Course
Stormhold Fortress

Remember; we are a friendly server and we are there to help make your experience as entertaining as possible without ruining that of others!

If you wish to see images relating to the projects undertook and completed: please check out and like our facebook page at: http://www.facebook....102437629879830

I will edit this post when the server is available and completed.

Carnage104If your still in development, may i suggest to you a few things. Dont take offence to this!

- Get a better host. 85 quid a month is way too much. I recommend beastnode! you can get 60 slots for around 50 quid? less i think?
- You'll never fill 60 slots. Trust me, stick to 15 for your first couple of months at least! it'll only cost you 10 pounds a month, if that.
- Dont make people cover YOUR costs. No one likes paying for a brand new server with no reputation. if you owned say the VoxelBox, people would gladly pay!
- Make videos, screenshots, promotions. Visual representation of the server will give people a good idea of what there in for.
- Make yourself heard, dont rely on others to do it for you.

That is my advice to you. Dont take offence to it, i did the same thing. Almost exactly the same. I was paying 100 aussie dollars a month for something i truly didnt need.

I agree with this 100%. A pay to play server is really going to turn people away... There are better ways to cover the cost.. I would say pay out of pocket, or have non-required donations (Donors can get special ranks for the donation, so you're more likely to have more donations)..

beacuase both are horrible ways of promoting. Try making a server project here on planet minecraft! Make some sweet videos, take some awesome screenys, chuck a heap of information on there! Other ways include server lists, and stuff like that. The best way however is word of mouth. Pull 5-6 people on with mates, youll have 20 active members on in no time. Facebook is also a really horrible way of showing people screenshots. Upload to Imgur.com and embed them in your posts.

also please spread the word to those who you know please, it would be shameful for such effort to go to waster without publicity
