Ever since 1.7 my Minecraft has been EXTREMELY slow! It's barely playable! Anyone know how I can fix this? It's really annoying!

Trying turning off VSync. I used to have 30 FPS constantly and when I turned it off I got 110, just like the old days.

They changed all the settings and such so you need to figure out how to configure those settings in game to your computer.
Also if you are an administrator on your computer do this:
Do Ctrl-Alt-Delete
Open Task Manager
Click More Details or Processes.
Go to details
Find
javaw.exe
Right click -Set priority
Set it to High.

Simple yet pretty efective:
When it minecraft slow?
when you start playing or when you open the launcher, or perhaps its your whole computer?

anyway I have a solution for the first problem:
I have a really slow computer and minecraft is *always* slow for me, the *only* thing that works is if I keep my open programs to a minimal and I keep all the in game settings to the lowest.
example:
Render distance: tiny (now in 1.7 it's 2 chunks)
Particles: minimal
Graphics: fast
etc.

Hope This helps!

Have you got 64-bit Java installed and updated to the latest version? As some other people above have mentioned it is possible that support for your version might have been dropped / not updated.

I was told it was craftbukkit since it doesnt allow you to do anything that has to do with 1.7 but it does support 1.7, so you'll probably find that when craftbukkit updates fully to 1.7, you'll see it'll be faster, so for now, we'll just deal with craftbukkit being a bitch

1.7 dropped compatibility for old java versions and old computers so they can utilize new technology and make it have better performance on new computers.

That's not true. It's just planned to do that in the future, with openGL.

They dropped support with java 5 with the new launcher and they are slowly dropping support for older systems

I actually think that deleting all the files in your .minecraft, except saves & texturepacks will work.
