Spawn issue.

My spawn is a half sphere under water in an ocean biome. I use essentials spawn, and can set the spawn; however... When new players join; they spawn on the roof.... about 5 blocks of the sphere is above water, so they do have something to stand on, but that's now exactly how I want the spawn to function. How do I fix this?
