So I recently tried building Ilmango's squid farm. It didn't spawn any squids at all so I tore it down thinking the farm just doesn't work in the latest version.I then built an axolotl based squid farm but it still doesn't spawn ANY squid at all. It only spawns salmon.
I made sure it was in a river biome, between y64 and y45, and I drained all water in a 128 block radius. I even drained any water pockets underground. I also name tagged every axolotl.
I tried to afk 128 blocks up from the bottom of the farm and 25 blocks away, but nothing seems to work.
Any help is appreciated!

Giga chad has full ownership of the squids. It cannot be spawned anymore. If you want a squid, call my name.
look at that it says BIOME:RIVER
