Starting new server I need help with world Painter!

So currently i don't have a server! But I am still going to buy one after I build a map on world painter and I create a website! But i need you Help planet minecraft! The server will be built on 3-4 GB of ram and Will have custom plugins on it. So the challenge i face is how big of a map should i make without causing lag?
