Starting a Server: Help
Hi! I am trying to start a Minecraft server, like Mineplex, The Hive, MCSG, etc. just not as big. If I bought a server with a host, how would I add plugins, maps, maps for minigames, etc.
P.S. If it helps, I will most likely be buying a server with minespan.

Or you can just not buy a host.
If you have any troubles with setting up a certain plugin, you can usually just search it up on youtube or whatever as well.
And also do what BamBamAlicious said.
Most of the good server hosts have a 1 click plugin install feature built into the console.

Ok... Without trying to be rude, if you don't know the basics of installing your own plugins, maps and editing configs. DO NOT waste your money on a hosted server yet.
First thing, download the vanilla Minecraft server package. Learn how to install it, and how to adjust variables in the server.properties file. This file will alow you to use worldnames that aren't the standard "world". Learn how to port forward and allow connections from the internet so you're getting an appreciation of how a server works.
Next, download a server software, one of the more popular is Spigot, which allows for the addition of plugins. Learn how to install a plugin by stopping a server, running it once to install the plugin, then how to adjust the configs to get the results you want. Essentials is a good plugin to start with this.
Once you are happy running a server on your own local machine, where you have full access to every part of the server, THEN its worth getting a hosted server when the only real benefit is the high speed connection on a powerful machine that can cope with the demands of a busy server. To give you an idea I run RM on two racked servers that I have at home, but I've only been able to do that since I got high speed internet!
Servers are a lot of effort to run successfully, and take a lot of learning that never really stops!

Hello, It depends on which site is hosting your server. On Mcprohosting.com all you have to do is go to your control panel, then files and BukGet Plugins. It'll automatically be installed.
