"Super Secret Settings" Not Working!

I know it might me a little late to be saying this but whatever, this is my problem. Basically whenever I click on "Super Secret Settings..." all it does it just play a sound. It doesn't affect the in game shaders at all... I'm playing on 1.7.2 so i don't know... I might be derping right now and the answer might make me feel stupid but meh...

.... no, they add weird effects to the game's graphics. If yours only makes sounds, than something is wrong with your MC too. Again, it doesn't matter, it just makes really annoying graphics changes and creates lag.
Meh, its not like I would use them anyways. To be honest, they can be cool to play with at first, but they are also extremely annoying and lag the game if your computer is sub-par. Don't worry about it, its a useless setting .
Do you know what graphics card you have? Unless your graphics card supports OpenGL 3.0+, shaders will not be available to you.
