The case of the missing .jar files

A very mysterious problem cropped up today, and I can't explain it. Hopefully someone here can.

I'm running OS X Lion in case that matters.

The mods folder in my Minecraft folder is suddenly empty. AND YET: the mods are still working in Minecraft! I search all my files for the .jar mod files and they are nowhere to be found.

Part 2 of this mystery: I downloaded a new mod (.jar) and put it in my Mods folder, but it doesn't show up in Minecraft. So the mods in the folder don't seem to work; but the mods that are missing DO seem to work. Any advice would be much appreciated.

(P.S. I did check for hidden files, but nothing came up.)

Thanks, but the launcher logs don't say anything about the mod files. It's the oddest thing. I can't find any mod files on my computer and yet there they are.

I wouldn't care so much about that except the mod files I add to the mods folder are not showing up in the game.

Your minecraft may be finding the files in another location, check the launcher logs to see where its getting the files from.
