I think im doing something wrong...
i went to my router and went to port range forwarding. i put 25565 in both ports and the last 3 digits of my computer's ip in the ip slot(.100). i hit enable and save settings, then i check my external ip address. But when i test if the port is opening, test it myself, or have other people test the ip it never works . the server itself does work though because when i try "localhost" it does work. Please tell me if i'm doing something wrong!!

if some1 can help me please do so. ok so i went on my router and did this:
1. go to port range forwarding
2. start + end is 25565
3. Protocol both
4.to ip( i looked up laptop's IPv4) .100
5. hit enable and save settings
6. typed in external ip and tested it
7. it stated that i cant connect to server
Do i need to change something in server properties or did i do something wrong?
(P.S. server is for 'bout 2 people and is vanilla with no mods)
THANKS!

kk. thx anyway.
Dunno, you will need at least 1GB RAM to have a chance. But if you arent getting any errors then that isnt it.
could this b the reason it doesnt work?
What is the total RAM of your system? You will need at least 0.5GB for your operating system and at least 0.5GB for the server.
no errors, just "not enough RAM" but the server is only gonna be for me and 1 friend right now.
Have you made sure the server is running without any errors in the command window?
You only need more RAM if you have many players. Guidelines are in the guide I posted. By default it is up to 1GB.

it cant reach server. thx anyway. do i absolutely need to add more RAM.
You can check yourself, if you can connect to that ip then other people can too.
Port can be left blank if you haven't changed it in server.properties file.

Follow this and you should be fine:

i have both tcp and udp on and my friend(who made a server himself) said the compter's ip was accurate. P.S. how do i use portfoward.com
Double check your lan ip, and also check out portforward.com
Did you add it port forwarding for both TCP and UDP Protocols? There should be a drop box of sorts, and you can select on or the other, but sometimes there's an option for 'Both'. If not, make a rule for both TCP and UDP separately.
i dont know what to tell u
