I exported a map I made on WP and gave it the same name as my world with all my builds on it that I've put countless hours in to. Did I just copy over my world.
If so, is there any way to recover it via MC or MCedit?
I have spent so much time working on this build and it looks like I just lost the file... Please help

Yup, unless you made a backup of the save file, you probably overwrote the entire save data.
If youre lucky, you MAY be able to get it back if you restore windows to an earlier date, but that can be risky and I'm defo not the one to be talking to if you want to know how to do that

Help: If you have windows, press <home tab> and R at the same time. Type %appdata%. Go to .minecraft file, and then world saves. Look for the file and it should be there.
If you have a mac, do the <hometab> and R same time, Now type Roaming, go to the file named Roaming. Click .minecraft, world saves, and look.

Sound like the map is gone. If it saved over then there is no way of getting it back unless you have a backup. Thats why most programs for minecraft tell you to make a backup of your minecraft before messing with it because things like this can happen. Sorry.

I made a map in Worldpainter and when I exported the map I named it water_test so it saved over my build world with the WP map.
I need to recover the old map with all my builds on it if possible.
