I have a laptop that I recently got. The laptop for FPS isn't doing so well. Around 17-20 and sometimes 9-12 FPS. Recording around 15-20 I want to know what I can do to make this computer run around 20-25FPS. Also is there a way to make your FPS stay still? I want mine to like stay still at a FPS(Don't have to, just wondering), so if its 30FPS, am I able to stabilize it, I'm just wondering, don't need to take in effect of that. I just want to get around 15-20 FPS when I'm playing and recording, it can be a little lower when I record, but none the less, just better FPS, nothing like 12-
Computer Specs:
Brand: ASUS
System: Windows 8
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.80GHz
RAM: 4gb, 3.89 usable
System Type: 64 bit
Java: Java 7 Update 21
Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
If you are able to help, it would be great! Any ideas to reduce lag without reducing video settings, I want my video settings to stay at what I have
**GOAL**: Prevent Minecraft from getting 12FPS- and perhaps stabilize FPS, make it stay at one FPS
Graphics: Fancy
Render: Far or Normal
Smooth Lighting: Max or Min.
You can change anything else, those who help will be greatly appreciated!

Word of advice: do not buy a computer for JUST recording and playing.
Lag persists again! I think I'll play on Minimmum and Normal and let the computer get used to it.
Ok guys, update! I don't know what happened or what I did but FPS is slightly smoother, maybe cause I don't press f3 as much? It's just not as laggy anymore. Probably because well its just one of those days. I just don't get FPS right now that's 9.
Pfft. I think you may need to either upgrade that thing or make a better investment in money next time. Try going here man; http:/www.ibuypower.com/ , Great deals for some Kick-A** God-tier PCs. Either that or.. what everyone always shouts in a thread like this "GET OPTIFINE!".
Hope that helps

And, no, its the BEST Intel core i5 or the top line of the intel core i5 line up.
i have a toshiba with same spec as this runs
solid 70fps on medium setting no probs
solid 70fps on medium setting no probs
Micro, those Specs are good but you have to remember this is a laptop. My specs are just a bit off of that, still causes lag though :/
Mine is a laptop too...
I get around 70-300 FPS, and all thanks to optifine and low settings!
Here are my specs:
Intel core i5 3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz Quad core
Ram: 6gb
System type: 64 bit, windows 7
GPU: Intel graphics 5000.
This is the kind of laptop you want for recording at a solid 60fps or higher.

Hmmmm, I've been able to record a little and haven't had muxh lag issues. It's just the lag spikes and when it goes down to 9 fps
Thanks guys! How would I exactly switch from Windows 8 to Windows 7?
Switching to Windows 7 wouldn't do much.
Your computer would still be not optimized for playing and recording.
You'll have to stick with low settings, Giving minecraft more ram, and not record.
Sorry bud.

Increasing the ram 9/10 wont do anything for the fpa.
Running minecraft with more ram won't change the fps a bit. It'll just run the same but if your using glsl shaders using more ram on minecraft is a tad help but with vanilla not alot. Also yeah you should get optifine its the best you'll get to make it faster.
At least have 3.00 ghz.
Its a laptop. A laptop at that speed would produce so much heat it wouldnt even be funny. Back to the post, it wont run minecraft that well 1) its an i3, 2) its an integrated gpu. Get something with a gt 620M, or similar, thatll run minecraft well
Yikes...
That computer is worse than mine... Which is really bad.
That is by no means a gaming computer.
Your processor is small and slow. 4GB of RAM is nothing. Your graphics card is small, generic, slow, and integrated (It saps its memory from your RAM instead of having its own dedicated memory.).

Do not get Windows 8. Get Windows 7, much better.
Sorry bro, this is not a gaming rig at all, i understand that this is a laptop, but still, :/
That processor is essentially the lowest range, cheapest intel 3rd gen processor, good luck doing much on that.
4 gigs of ram, well, good enough for running a few programs, plenty for minecraft.
Your on board graphics will probably manage to run it at 30-40 fps at mid/low settings,
I recommend you switch to windows 7 though, that will run minecraft more efficiently.

I get 134 fps... on my Mac... with low settings... and higher than average Camera Angle. Don't ask me how, I don't know.
As for your settings turning Particles to decreased might help, and with Optifine turning Adaptive loading to reduce lag spikes.

I get around 40 FPS on all low settings.
I will be back soon guys. I'm going to eat lunch, I will reply to all your posts in about 20 minutes. Stay tuned!
What is your graphics card? And how much did you pay for an i3 processor?
I'm not sure how you will do, but I have an i7 processor 1.6ghz though, and 8GB's of RAM, and I can record pretty well, but it is somewhat laggy. Almost forgot to mention, my graphics card is weak now, but was good at the time. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870. I normally get 70-100 FPS not recording and 20-30 FPS recording.
Your processor will make your recording smooth, but your graphics card will make it all purty.
And like SlayerxHD said.. OptiFine will help you a lot. You should download and install that onto your client.
If you're thinking about getting a new computer I'd suggest a desktop from iBuyPower or completely building it from the ground up using websites like tigerdirect or newegg.
Good luck! Are you thinking of making a YT channel?

My graphic card is the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
I already have one actually. I used to use my Desktop in the basement, I don't like going there, so now I prefer the laptop. The desktop isnt' actually mine though.

Well, to be honest, you're asking for a lot here. If you run 15 FPS normally, you could get around 30 with optifine, and with low graphic settings maybe 35. Recording, you would probably get maybe 10 FPS? Sorry but there is no way you can have high graphics setting, record, and stable FPS with out a more powerful computer.
I changed the post a little, it asks for less now , I play on a private server, so it kinda is difficult. Any ways like changing computer memory, and that stuff. If you know how to dedicate RAM to the new launcher, let me know!
Put graphics at normal and Lighting at Min. Then, install Optifine which will help alot. If you still have low fps, I'm afraid you'll have to put graphics to a lower level. And forget about recording, you'll be lucky if you get atleast 10 fps
I'm playing on the latest snapshot which is the problem, I got this computer, well not really, it's a birthday present, I can't dedicate any ram to the new launcher, if this was still the old launcher, the lag problem would be already over. I'm on the latest launcher guys, tips without actually changing settings that much?
