0 is the beginning of the day, right when night turns to day.

0 is the mark on the clock when the moon is on the right halfway showing, and the sun is on the left halfway showing. This is the very beginning of the day.
Now when you time set to 18000, the clock will be the exact opposite, Moon on left halfway. sun on right halfway.

In single player, 0 is day, 12500 is night, and everything in between, well, is in between.
i believe /time set 3500 is night or you know /time set night
You can do /time set day to make it easy on you
This only works if you have essentials.
