I port forwarded and made my server. Sure people know your external ip, but why would someone every target you for hacking?

Yes and the owner of a server can get your ip every time you join their server and you haven't been hacked yet, that I know of And if you use hamachi people can see your IP anyway, So just portforward it makes everone's life easier

Stop scaring the child. Forwarding your port is safe as long as you aren't posting the IP to your server everywhere. I'm certain your computer isn't powerful enough to host a lot of people and you want to do this to play with a few friends. Forward the port. It's simple to do and doesn't require you to use a third party program that everyone has to install to play on your server.

The annoyed part... I completely understand. Thats why my MC server is down. No plans to start it again. But in the "good ole' days" I had 2000 people a week.

Because I run stuff on ports 21,53,80,443,25565 and more. I've been running 80 and 25565 for a year and a half, no hackers.

U4iK_HaZeIt's safe, as long as you run only the latest updated software. I host a bunch of websites, used to do minecraft, and have FTP and HTTPS protocols open too. http://www.u4ik.us is hosted by me, (duh) but some free public FTP storage too. Just port forward. It's simple and the best option.

Thank you but... Others say I should use hamachi because the people now can hack by me using port fowarding... Why do they say that?
