I absolutely need to do a small texture pack by February 4th, but I've tried everything... nothing to do.
What I'm trying to do:
I'm trying to make a texture pack that changes the texture of the parrot. Yes, normally I could just make a mob skin then post it... but it's not 16x16 or 32x32... no, it's more, which forces me to make a texture pack to post it.
The Problem:
I tried to upload a parrot to PMC as a texture pack, then after I went to modify all the textures in the folder to put the parrot texture I wanted...
It goes into Minecraft, it's good, I launch my world, I spawn a parrot... it's the texture of a basic parrot, not the texture I want.
I tried all, nothing. Good version of Minecraft, all folder textures change...nothing works.
By the way... do I need to change stuff in the stuff in the folder called MCMETA? If so, I'm in even more trouble because none of my computers want to open it for some reason...
Please let me know if you know what the problem is...

Try downloading a resource pack template and checking if you have the right path of the textures.
I think that's kinda what I did... I posted a draft parrot on PMC, then I uploaded it with the texture pack option.
After that I only changed the parrot texture in the parrot folder.

(I'm a beginner in the field of texture packs, I don't know all the themes yet ^^')

Mind sending the pack?
I don't dare too much... it may sound ridiculous said like that but making the parrot took me a lot of time and it's one of my biggest Minecraft projects.
but maybe if tomorrow I really can't get it to work on Minecraft, maybe I'll dare to do it...

make sure the pack.mcmeta is in the right format, and the texture is placed in the correct folder
the whole path looks like this: ur pack's name/assets/minecraft/textures/entity/parrot/the textures
if u checked everything and its all good then...
there's one tiny possibility
that u only modified one of the many variants of a parrot
minecraft only read one of those textures:"parrot_blue", "parrot_green", "parrot_grey", "parrot_red_blue", "parrot_yellow_blue"
try these: spawn more of them/change the texture's name/modify all of the textures instead of just one

Perhaps its not a png? It needs to be called parrot in the entities folder
Yes, it's a png, it's in a folder named parrot.

Needs to be in folder location: assets < minecraft < textures < entity < parrot
Also your image needs to be the correct name as well. If you're changing the red parrot, then the image needs to be called "parrot_red_blue.png"

It worked, the problem was the name of the parrot png !
Thanks very much :)
Thanks very much :)
By looking at this structure, it seems you're missing one folder in between minecraft and enity, it should be minecraft/textures/entity, not minecraft/entity
probably you should change something in mcmeta. it can be pack format. 4 works sometimes but I remember that I needed to make pack format 6 for one of my texture packs to make it work.
I finally managed to open MCMETA, but changing the format.pack didn't work... but I didn't try all the formats. How do I know which format is the right one?
Here's the wiki page
If you're using this in the latest version (1.19-1.19.2) your format should be "9" (1.19.3) uses "12" but 9 should work just fine

thx for info, it probably will be helpful :)
