Trouble With World Download

I recently asked a friend to give me a world download of a Minecraft Realm survival so I can play it in single player. Problem is when I put it in my saves folder and open it in Minecraft I'm greeted to the world with none of the builds that I did. The generation is the same but none of my progress. I was spawned in the same spot with all my items in my inventory. The world is as if I just loaded it with the seed. I have no idea how to get it back. Anyone have a reason how or why?
